What I do have this week is a random observation. I realized that photography really helps me to live in the moment. Too often I worry about the past, and choices I have made. Or, I worry about the future and what is to come. But my "James Dean" makes me focus on what is right in front of me at the moment. And isn't that a great thing? We can't change the past, we can't predict the future...but we can appreciate the moment. So thank you Jimmy Dean.
This week's Scavenger Hunt Sunday prompts are: Vision, Strong, Map, Button, Favorite Fruit.
1. Vision
"Four Eyes"
"The Prayer"
Vatican City, Italy
I often ask myself, WHY did I fake those eye exams when I was in elementary school so that I could wear glasses? I mean, I NEVER fooled those nurses...and I wound up wearing glasses and/or contact lenses the majority of my life anyway???? Thank goodness I was equally unsuccessful in my lobbying for braces.
2. Strong
"The Prayer"
Vatican City, Italy
I had a different photo taken this week for this prompt. But I decided to scrap that and go back to my archives from August of this year. I was in the Vatican and saw this nun in prayer. I have to admit I did wrestle with my conscience on whether I should take this photo or not. It was a private moment. It was a sacred moment. But more than that...it was a moment of strength that spoke to me. So I took it.
3. Map
"The World is Round"
"The Conductor"
New Hope, PA
linked to: Your Sunday Best, Weekly Top Shot, Snapshot Sunday, Sundays in my City
How am I a dork? Let me count the ways. #1: I love globes. Yes I do, I admit it. They remind me of elementary school class rooms of my childhood. There was ALWAYS a globe at Woodlawn Elementary School in Willow Grove, PA. After all, we do need proof that the world is round.
4. Button
"The Conductor"
New Hope, PA
linked to: Your Sunday Best, Weekly Top Shot, Snapshot Sunday, Sundays in my City
...as in "Cute AS a button"????? I have no idea who this cutie patootie is. All I can tell ya is he ain't shy.
5. Favorite Fruit
"Corona Time"
Another week? Another Scavenger Hunt in the books. If you get the chance take a few moments to check out Ashley's Ramblings and Photos to see all the other Scavenger Hunt Sunday submissions. They never fail to make me shake my head and say "WHY didn't I think of that????".

I love the strong image. I can see how you'd wrestle with taking the photo...but it is a beautiful one that speaks volumes!! And I agree that the cutie-patooty in the train photo is cute as a button!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your shot for button... great composition. I love how that cute little face is down in one corner. :)
ReplyDeleteHahaha, lobbying for braces! I did that, too... and failed, so I ended up putting aluminium foil over my teeth at one point, pretending that I had braces. Yeah, I looked really dorky.
Wonderful photos. Each shot is perfect for the subject. The strong shot is inspiring, the button shot is so cute, the fruit shot is interesting and I love the perspective of the shot.
ReplyDeleteLove the shot of the train - such a great comp. Beautiful globe too - I was stumped for map!
ReplyDeleteThe globe pic is incredible. And I love your strong photo. I'm glad you ended up taking it!!! :) And your favorite fruit is a riot.
ReplyDeleteHe IS a cutie patootie! You're "strong" shot is very, very moving.
ReplyDeleteGreat series - hope you have a better week.
Happy Thanksgiving!
I really like the creativity you brought to this set of photos. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteThat kid is SO cute as a button!! And you and I are meant to be friends - I wore fake glasses in Kindergarden so I wouldn't be the only one in my family without them. Little did I know my vision would deteriorate a year later and now I have been in bifocals for over 13 years! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAt least you were able to get a photo set together for Scavenger Hunt Sunday...that's more than I was able to do. Great photos, especially the "cute as a button" kid! What a smile... :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful series of shots - The prayer shot really touched me. I love globes too...they remind me of my dad. "Your" cutie really is cute as a button...and corona's my favorite!
ReplyDeleteKathy - I loved your set this week. The little conductor!!! What a shot!!! I've missed visiting here... you never fail to make me smile ;D
ReplyDeleteI particularly love your last 2 shots - my husband enjoys a lemon or lime with a corona as well. I can very much relate to your brilliantly articulated observation - thanks for expressing it so well. Sounds as if things are full on for you at present, I hope the 'not so good' isn't too overwhelming.
ReplyDeleteLove "button", so cute and good thinking outside of the box! You should do ads for Corona! Looks so refreshing!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you decided to take the shot of the nun praying! Very strong! The little conductor is adorable and sure is a happy little guy. I love your favorite fruit . . . very clever! Hope you get lots of good shots with Thing #1 and Thing #2 home.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photography ~ favorites are the Conductor and Corona ~ very creative ~ (A Creative Harbor) ^_^
ReplyDeleteLove this shot of the nun in prayer, and of course all of them are great! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, and yes OUr photography is such a wonderful tool to keep us in the moment!
ReplyDeleteI love the strong shoot. You do have a gift!
ReplyDeleteThat train image is priceless! and what a great take on fruit. I know that uneasy feeling about capturing a private moment-especially one so soulful, but glad you did. When I'm in that dilemma-I think is it disturbing that private moment? If it's a stranger, they'll never know. Hope this week goes better. Don't worry about no visits. No one can visit all the time. Just do your best. I'm glad to hear your take on past/future/and present courtesy of the camera. Good thought to ponder-past is regret, future is anxiety. Hmmmm.
ReplyDeleteMornin' Kathy, great shots. I hope your weekend was as special as you are!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful images Kathy. I'm sorry for the stuff that's not so good and hopefully the stuff that IS good far out weighs the crap. Hang tough my friend.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh your set is awesome.
ReplyDeleteThe shot for Strong is truly amazing and speaks volumes.
Vision - What cool glass frames.
Buttons - Okay he is "cute as a button."
Favorite Fruit, I'm not a beer lover at all but your photo is really cool.
your button shot is so sweet! I love your hunt but that happy face caught my heart. congratulations :) xxo
ReplyDeleteThat little boy is adorable . . . and I LOVE the corona pic!!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots Kathy. Love that little dickens in the engineer's cap.
ReplyDeleteHope things get better for you all. xo
Very nice interpretations !
ReplyDeleteGreat shots all!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots!
ReplyDeleteAll your photos made me smile - thanks! I'm lovin the nun's shoes.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the photo of the nun detracted from her private moment, if anything, it promoted the strength she vowed to live her life by. Great, great group. no lie! Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteWonderful series of shots, love 'the prayer' most... Thank you for sharing on Weekly Top Shot #57!

ReplyDeleteLovin' those glasses. I've been wearing glasses every day of my life (except for a few short years of contacts) since 2nd grade. My goal now is to always have glasses that MAKE A STATEMENT.
Well, actually, the world is a bit egg shaped - - - it protrudes out at the equator - - - but we'll work with the whole globe concept anyway.
And the conductor? Absolutely adorable!
You never have to apologize for not coming over my way. I LOVE to come here because you are so you. My favorite this week: strong. I'm glad you switched your other one out (whatever it was). This one truly spoke to me.
ReplyDeleteYuMMEEEEE to the last one. Now that my taste buds are watered and there's only Coors light. Phooey!
ReplyDeleteAwesome strong is my favorite hope you have a great Thanksgiving.

ReplyDeleteNo apologies necessary, Kathy . . . and aren't we all a work in progress? I find your strength shot tremendously moving and your button shot is truly cute.
ReplyDeleteThese are great photos. They speak to me so don't worry about the words. Sometimes it is hard to capture all the moments in our lives but when you do it is great! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAh...♥ it! You have my one of my fav drinks next to wine & coffee that is. Corona w/lime...mmm! I ♥globes too, but for a different reasons. We spend the globe around to decide where we are going on vacation each year. It my dream to travel to all 50 states before I'm too old to remember or can't. :)
ReplyDeleteI love your map photo! And the little kid in the 'button' photo is just adorable!
ReplyDeleteI really love these, Kathy!
ReplyDeleteYour favorite fruit is Corona time? LOVE it!
