"One is the Loneliest Number"
I often feel like I'm one step behind everyone. And so the feeling continues with my participation in the "Poetic Winter Challenge". The prompt is "Solitude". Which is downright perfect in summing up how I feel about Winter. NOT a fan. NOT a fan of solitude. Truth be told, I'm a bandwagon fan of Winter and Solitude. I just like to jump off the bandwagon a lot sooner than most...two weeks max of cold temps and solitude and I'm good to go.
I am by nature a social person. Warm weather is more conducive to that. Once Winter approaches, everything turns inwards. Animals hibernate. Greenery goes dormant. Sunlight diminishes. We follow nature's lead and follow her. There is a quietness to winter that is the antithesis of warmer weather months. Perhaps that is good. We all need a rest. Mother Nature probably knows best. But I guess I just need less rest than what she thinks. Wouldn't be the first time I disagreed with a mom.
Winter Solitude. Probably a necessity. Just less of a necessity for me.

I'm with you on that solitude thing! Lovely photo and depiction of One.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful piece of art - artography. I agree with you in that a couple of weeks of winter is just about enough. ;o)

ReplyDeleteThank you so much for linking up!! I'm so glad that you did. Friday's challenge prompt is Warmth... hope to see you there!!
ReplyDeleteSimply beautiful art! Great use of textures! Thanks so much for joining the Poetic Winter Photo Challenge!
ReplyDeleteSo interesting to read your thoughts on winter- a season that for me is much less harsher than what you and several people in these link ups experience. You write so well. And your photo highlights and compliments what you 're saying .
ReplyDeleteBeautiful image! Try to hang in there, spring will come soon... I on the other hand enjoy solitude - crowds are just too much for me...
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful picture, simple and bare.

Love your composition and subtle texture work. Very pretty image, Kathy!
ReplyDeleteI hear you on the winter thing, I am not so much a fan of winter myself - it is my least favorite season to be sure. I like it for a minute, but then I am ready to move on into spring! :)
Seing your blog, I realize I AM behind, but very very behind in my tasks at Kim's 52.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work in all your posts. Love it.

Beautiful shot, and now I don’t feel so bad for still considering jumping in on the Poetry challenge.
ReplyDeleteI love the austerity of that shot, Kathy. Simply wonderful!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful "solitude" image and your words are perfect sentiments.
ReplyDeleteLove this Kathy- it's perfect!
ReplyDeleteI love the curl of your leaf and the blankness behind it. It really captures your theme. Keep the faith, spring (and spring training :) ) will come! The days are getting longer, little by little!
ReplyDeleteI would have never thought to use pumpkin grunge on a photo like that, but I will now. Very nicely done! Thanks for the inspiration...I just finished jotting it down. :)
ReplyDeleteKathy, this is so beautiful. I, however love the solitude....Peace and quiet suits me just fine. Great composition and tones. Better to be late to the party than not showing up! hee hee
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous. Wonderful composition and beautiful, subtle, texture work. You captured the prompt so well. I don't mind the solitude but I certainly am not a winter person myself!
ReplyDeleteI love the simplicity and soothing tones of this photo! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you sista! Bring on the warm weather, bare feet in the sand and wind in my hair....I need the beach, now!
ReplyDeleteAnd if you are a step behind then I'm REALLY behind, especially this week!!
I get conflicted this time of year. I know that nature and we as well, need a rest to gear up for spring.
ReplyDeleteLovely capture and editing, Kathy. :)
This caught my eye. Beautiful! :) I understand the feeling and that is why I now live in Asia!
ReplyDeleteSuch a lonely branch made to look so beautiful.. Well done my friend..
ReplyDeleteHugs, Linda
I am with you on the hibernating thing. Beautiful picture too! I am counting down the days til everything starts coming out of hibernation, including myself! :)
