Old threads...

"A Vintage Affair"
New Hope, PA

"What I really love about them is the fact that they contain some one's personal history.
I find myself wondering about their lives.
I can never look at a garment without thinking about the woman who owned it.
How old was she?
Did she work?
Was she married?
Was she happy?
When you buy a piece of vintage clothing you're not just buying the fabric and the thread,
you 're buying a piece of some one's past."

  1. This is lovely Kathy! and yes, it is very interesting to think about the lives of these people. I have my great grandmothers wedding dress and her tiny wedding shoes, and always wonder so much about her life when I see it. Have a wonderful day!

  3. Lovely post Kathy. Reminds me of a quote I read once that said "I like to look at people and think....somebody loves them." I suppose these things help us to be more compassionate human beings.

  5. The photo is great, and the quote goes with it beautifully. I wonder about the people who wore the clothes, too. So much history.

  19. Hmmm...never thought of it quite like that before. Now, you're going to have me questioning my goods from the thrift shops. Does it look like it has an eerie past or not. I'm scared. lol
