Much Ado About Something...

Christmas has left the building...
Thank you, and goodnight.

"Christmas Has Left the Building"
Week #1:  January 1 - January 7, 2013
Project 52 (1/52)

The week that was...

So, I made a compromise...and I'm only 7 days into 2013.  I REALLY would love to tackle a 365 photo project.  But I just know at this juncture, it's just gonna frustrate me.  Being the Queen of Rationalization, I decided a 52 photo project would work much better for moi.  One photo per week for 2013.  To make it a bit more relevant, not just ANY photo will do (cause we all KNOW I take lots of them so where is the challenge in THAT?).  But it has to pertain to the happenings of the prior week.  You know, sort of like "Much Ado About Something".  I'm kinda actually inspired...for this week at least.

Photo #1 (January 1 - January 7).  It was a week of un-bedecking my halls.  And trust me, there was A LOT of un-bedecking to do.  THREE freakin' Christmas trees and a basements worth of accoutrement.  No partridge in a pear tree tho.  Don't judge me :).  It always SOUNDS like a good idea when I'm starting out (the day after Thanksgiving).  But after ten trips up and down my basement steps carrying uber boxes...my sanity does come into question.  By moi.  But at least the end result lets me ooooh and ahhhhh for awhile.  The reverse process tho?  No such climactic moment.  And the house always looks so dang empty afterwards too.

Yep folks, Christmas has left the building...

  1. Unfortunately Christmas has not left this building. Have started the whole (groan) process but it is still in the works. The thought of those basement steps stops me cold. Applause, your house is Christmas decor free!!

  2. I love this post! I am happy to see the new year come! For the first time in my life I sort of "skipped" Christmas this year. Looking forward to a brilliant one in 2013!
    Cheers,

  4. I spent all day yesterday making our Christmas leave the building...I agree, it's such a tedious chore! I will look forward to seeing all of your 52 photos this year...can't wait to see what the year brings. :)

  5. Hmmm. I could handle 52 weeks - but this Queen of Rationalization also says any photo won't do and no one can make a roll of curly ribbon as pretty as Kathy!

  10. Oh, I don't know... I kinda like the post-christmas de-cluttering process. It always seems theraputic to me. Putting Christmas to bed for another year.... and seeing the house all empty and blah - it always getting the wheels turning for some redecorating. YEEE. I did a 365 for 2011 and, honestly, it did me in. I think a project 52 is much more realistic! Love the macro ribbon photo. Beautifully done.

  11. Well, I knew there would be a silver lining to getting up my tree late, and nothing else....my tree, with the help of my kids, was down in under an hour! Whew, I think this is the first year that has happened in forever. I did a 52 week project the year before last, very manageable and am wanting to do one again. Was throwing around the idea of hands, but not sure I can commit! haha I guess I should decide soon, huh? Great theme, great photo!

  14. Great comp Kathy. I was at work over Christmas and we had workmen doing stuff to the house on 2nd Jan so the only Christmas decoration we had up was a small fibre optic Christmas tree which was hastily taken down on 1st Jan and thrown into a bag!

  15. I have decided to carry my 365 project on as I enjoyed it so much last year and it really had a massive impact on my photography skills and also my eye for a shot however I am thinking in the future that I might have to scale down to the 52 Project. Good luck with yours, I hope you stick with it, I know I am so glad I did with my 365 project, not only did I learn lots but I also felt a great deal of personal satisfaction when I completed it.

  16. Fabulous photo. I did a 365 project last year. So glad it's over. Kent's weekly project's much more reasonable.

  18. Gorgeous image! And I completely agree about how bare everything looks...which I enjoy for a couple of days almost as a rest, but then I am longing for a little color again.

  19. If your Christmas is like my Christmas, then much like Elvis, it will be spotted at some random location down the road. Just saying!

  20. I love this! It's so simple, yet it draws me in. I had to follow the swirls of the ribbons from the spool to the end.

  23. I am happy to say that Christmas has left this building also this weekend. I'm typically late January getting it all undone, but I'm very proud of myself this year...great post!
