50 Shades of Grey...

Yep....hot, steamy, and dirty. You know what I'm talking about.  Trains.  Yep trains.  Seriously....trains.

"New Hope - Ivyland Railroad"
New Hope, PA

Disclaimer:  I know nothin' about trains.  Actually, I know nothin' about "50 Shades of Grey" either.  The Better Half did buy the book for me "as a gift".  Just not sure who that gift was actually for.  It sits under my bed.  Been there for about 8 months now.  Only because that is where I stuck it to hide from Thing #3.  I'm guessing that probably wasn't too creative.

But even tho I know little about EITHER trains or "Grey"...I do know that trains are fun to photograph and look great processed in shades of grey.  Coal fueled, old fashioned, vintage steam engines, circa 1920's.  You can find them in New Hope, PA via the New Hope-Ivyland Line.

And just to prove my point...

I guess it's no secret why I  keep finding my dogs under my bed.  Just as long as Thing #3 ain't there with them.

  1. ROFL, I loved each and every single one of these!! And I'm so very jealous....I was just telling my husband how much I want to photograph some trains. I'm never in the right place at the right time at a couple of spots I've seen them. There is this one place that has this great graffiti on a tunnel, if I could only get there when the train is going into it...of course I would have to stop my car on the highway to get it, but then again my word for this year IS possible?

Putting this place on my list of places.....

  7. Fabulous series, especially that first one! I'm with you about various "shades of gray" and which ones to show off and which ones to keep hidden! ;-)

  8. I'm with the others and LMAO. Fantastic shots of the trains, especially like how you split up the steam on that one shot - and too funny about the dogs and the book.

  14. Kathy! tooo funny! Your photos are grand and marvelous and I'd say you know how to have trains have 50 or even 75 shades of Gray. As for the book, under the bed is fine. (haven't read, but have read reviews and not interested, 'ither)

  16. Super vintage feel. These could have been taken when the #40 first hit the tracks. I especially love the one with the conductor (is that we still call them?). Wonderful series!

  17. My father was a train man as was his father, so my love affair with trains is a natural. These are really grand, and so good in grey, or is it gray??I know the book is grey. And not I have not read it either.... xxoo

  18. My Dad is a huge train lover. Not that any of that rubbed off on me. I know nothing about them either. Your photos of them are fabulous. I have tried to take some photos of trains they just didn't turn out. I have not read the Shade of Grey either.. Maybe someday.. We shall see.. Love that last shot. Too funny!!

    Hugs~

  19. Never read the book either...I just always think of a camera grey card whenever someone mentions the book. Your photos are excellent.

  21. Hahaha, I loved your intro! ;p

Great pics of the trains. I am currently finishing the third book in the Fifty Shades series... not great, but "entertaining" for sure.

  24. Kathy! hi! Oh I am all for looking too young. I'm pushing the big six-oh next month and so the more youthful I can look the better, I say. hahahaha. I (btw) love the shoes you have on in your header.

  26. First off. Hated 50 shades, I tried so hard to read it b/c everyone else did... and I just couldn't get past the horrible writing, the harlequinn romance type story and it was kind of disturbing too - I got about 4 chapters into it and let it go. Bye bye 50 shades.
As for your pictures... great job. That is a beautiful train station there too - we have been there (always park there when we go) and I keep saying we should bring julianna on the train for christmas when they do the santa rides. Beautiful B&W pictures by the way! I am in a bit of a funk with my camera, I need to focus on getting out one day soon and take some shots - but I am at a loss in the Winter time - need to find something neat like your train! haha
